About the Event
Overview
NLMTC will host the African American Training Symposium. This training will be offered to local Tulare County and contracted mental health providers and special guests. Lunch will be included for all attendees.
The event will have teaching segments and open round table for Q/A that will collectively address the barriers in improving mental health services to the African American community. The segments will be lead by subject matter experts. This training will be offered to local Tulare County and contracted mental health providers and special guest. The event will begin at 9:00 am and end at 3:00 pm and include a partial working lunch for all attendees.
The event will have 3 teaching segments and 1 open round table for Q/A that will collectively address the barriers in improving mental health services to the African American community.
Segment #1 will feature Dr. Harriet Green
Dr. Green a licensed psychiatrist who has 38 years of experience. Her specialties include Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She speaks Spanish and English. Dr. Green will cover the interquels of medication usage in mental health.
Segment #2 will feature Dr. Robert Watts
As an assistant professor at Fresno St, Dr. Henderson worked in the Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at the Kremen School for Education and Human Development. There he started the Racial Healing Circle at Fresno State, to provide a dedicated space to help those affected by the pain of racism on psychological, spiritual, physical and emotional levels. Dr. Henderson is also featured in Psychology Today as well as published author. Dr. Henderson is currently continuing his work at CSULA.
Segment #3 Kiaundra Jackson, LMFT
Ms. Jackson is a trusted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist that gets results. She has been seen on OWN’s TV show – Love Goals. Ms. Jackson has been recently featured in Oprah’s Magazine, Essence, Women’s Health Magazine, FOX, CBS, and Forbes as one of the “Next 1000”. She is an award-winning speaker, best-selling author and TV personality. She is a noted expert on healthy relationships and mental health, where her work has been recognized by Beyonce and the NAACP. Mr. Jackson is the visionary of KW Couples Therapy, a thriving private practice in Los Angeles area and the Co-Founder of Black Speakers Rock, a network for new and emerging speakers.
Segment #4 Round Table
This segment will feature a round table of all of our speakers and host a roundtable of questions from the attendees. NLMTC also has a support from Dr. Lester Love, psychiatrist who is willing to fill in where needed.
